The things we get asked
Frequently asked questions
The questions we get asked most, answered honestly. If yours isn't here, ask us directly.
What is 3D printing?
3D printing builds a physical object from a digital model by adding material one layer at a time. We use FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) printers, which melt plastic filament and lay it down in precise layers until the part is complete. Think of it like a very accurate hot-glue gun controlled by a computer.
What materials do you use?
Our standard line-up is PLA, PETG, and TPU. PLA is best for decorative and indoor items, PETG is our workhorse for functional parts and outdoor use, and TPU handles anything that needs to flex. We can source other materials (ABS, ASA, nylon, carbon-fibre blends) for custom orders — just ask.
How long does printing take?
Anywhere from 30 minutes for a small keychain to 40+ hours for a large detailed piece. Most items in our shop ship within 2–3 business days because stock is printed ahead. Custom jobs take longer — we'll give you a realistic turnaround when we quote.
What's the minimum order?
There isn't one for stock products — buy a single item if that's all you need. Custom orders generally start from one piece, though unit pricing improves with larger runs. We'll quote whatever quantity makes sense for your project.
Can I get custom designs?
Yes. Send us a description, sketch, reference photos, or a file — whatever you've got. We'll confirm whether it's printable, recommend a material, and quote it. We don't charge for quotes.
Do you ship Australia-wide?
Yes, via Australia Post. Metro, regional, and remote — we'll get it to you. International shipping is available on request for smaller items.
How are products packaged?
In recyclable cardboard and paper fill, sized to the piece. Fragile or detailed prints get extra padding. No excessive plastic, no oversized boxes.
What's your returns policy?
If a product arrives damaged or has a manufacturing defect, we'll replace it or refund it — just let us know within 14 days with a photo. Custom orders are non-refundable once printing has started, but we'll always work with you if something isn't right. Change-of-mind returns on stock items are accepted within 14 days, unused and in original packaging (return shipping on you).
Can I provide my own design file?
Absolutely. If you've modelled something yourself or bought a file, send it through. We'll check it's print-ready and flag anything that needs adjusting before we run it.
What file formats do you accept?
STL is the standard and what we prefer. We also accept OBJ, 3MF, and STEP. If you've only got a different format, send it anyway — we can usually convert it.
How do I care for my 3D printed product?
Clean with warm water and mild soap — skip the dishwasher and don't leave PLA items in a hot car or direct summer sun. PETG and TPU handle heat better but still aren't made for ovens. For painted or finished pieces, wipe gently with a damp cloth.
What can't be 3D printed?
Plenty. FDM printing isn't suitable for very fine detail at small scales, fully transparent parts, food-contact items (our printers aren't food-safe), or anything that needs the strength of machined metal. We'll tell you upfront if your project isn't a good fit — and often we can suggest an alternative approach.
